Swedish & Deep Tissue Massage
At OCM we integrate a combination of Swedish and Deep Tissue techniques that will leave you feeling so relaxed you will not want to leave the table!
Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.
Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.
"With Deep Tissue Massage, it's not how deep you go, but how you go deep." (quote by Eric Stephenson - Massage Therapist and Instructor)
We incorporate the above modalities using the Auth Method of Forearm Massage - a method "that makes giving massage easier on the practitioner's body while improving the quality of the massage." (developed by Shari Auth, Massage Therapist, Acupuncturist, and Instructor)
Oak Crest Botanicals
On occasion, we make a line of all natural handmade soap. We use the cold process method consisting of the base ingredients of coconut, palm kernel, and olive oils. Then essential oils and herbs are added for scent, color, and texture. These are made in small batches in several varieties including:
- Farmer's Wash (geranium, lemongrass and patchouli essential oils and grits);
- Lavender Oats (lavender essential oil and oatmeal);
- Morning Mint (peppermint and spearmint essential oils and peppermint and spearmint leaves);
- Rise N Shine (peppermint and tea tree essential oils and poppy seeds);
- Spring Meadow (geranium, lemongrass and patchouli essential oils);
- Tsunami (lemongrass essential oil and lemongrass leaves);
- Woodstock (patchouli essential oil);
Sometimes other varieties are created, including a special Christmas soap.
